ReadingRead with a question, not from the top
Before reading an article, write one question it should answer. Then read the abstract and conclusion first, and mark where the author states the main claim. Read the middle only to test that claim against the evidence. Example: for a paper on mobile money and rural savings, your question might be 'Does access change saving habits, or only transactions?' You will quickly see whether the paper answers it, and your notes will be shorter, sharper and ready to quote.
Try this today: Pick one article you need to read. Write a question, read only its abstract and conclusion, then state the main claim in one sentence. Ten minutes.
